The Chicago Bears won a football game on Sunday afternoon. The narrowly beat one of the worst defenses in the NFL. Oh yea, the Lions also started Jeff Driskell. The game came down to the last drive of the game.
Read that paragraph again please. I don’t want anyone getting too excited. The Bears hardly beat a bad football team Sunday afternoon.
I’m sorry if that came off as negative, go ahead and be excited. I just am looking out for everyone’s best interest here. I want to make sure no one is looking ahead and thinking this team can sneak into the playoffs. The Bears are still an under performing football team, don’t let this win distract you from that.
It was nice to see the offense move the ball for a change. There was some tempo for a bit there and it looked like #10 was a capable NFL quarterback. There also were times when the offense once again mirrored that of your 9 year old nephew’s pee wee team. Matt Nagy, once great at scripting opening drives, has now gone 9/10 on said drives. 9/10 meaning the Bears have punted on the first drive 9 out of 10 weeks. Mitch continued to take sacks and have close to no pocket protection. The run game never got going once again. Don’t let the score confuse you folks, this game was not pretty.
We should give credit where it is due, Mitch had his best game of the 2019 season. He once again dominated the 2 minute offense. He made some absolutely B E A utiful throws on Sunday. Let #10 turn off his brain and the kid can play football. Why does Nagy not run the game like time is expiring? My friends, I have no answers for the head ball coach anymore. It was nice to see the offense play halfway decent for a few hours on a Sunday for once.
The defense did their part. Nick Kwiatkosk stepped up in a big way after Danny Trevathan’s elbow bent in a way elbows should not bend. The Polish Prince had 8 tackles, 1 sack, and 1 interception. The Bears will need a lot more of that from Nick and it seems Trevathan could be out for quite some time.
The Bears could win again next week and get to .500. I am telling each and every one of you, do not get your hopes up. This team is not good. Mitch is still not the quarterback of the future. I am saying this to protect you. No one deserves to get their heartbroken multiple times by a team that isn’t worth it.
