#TinThoughts: Takin’ Care Of Business

The Detroit Lions visited Soldier Field on Sunday and let’s just say things did not exactly go their way. The Bears handled the Lions 34-22 and the game was not as close as the score suggests.

Shhh, do you hear that? I can’t really hear anything. It’s pretty quiet. That is the sound of all the Mitch Trubisky haters and doubters of which there are many. The group that wants to see Mitch perform in a big game has nothing to say on this wonderful victory Monday. Mitch came out and showed the entire nation why he was the #2 pick in the draft last season. Mitch threw for a career high 355 yards and accounted for 4 touchdowns on Sunday. In his last 6 games, Mitch has 19 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. I don’t want to hear “well duh, they played awful teams” Mitch doesn’t create the schedule, it is his job to perform to the best of his ability week in and week out. If you say you just haven’t seen much progress, go take a look at QB1 against the Packers on Opening Night and then watch that same quarterback yesterday. Mitch has progressed game after game and it is great to see as a Bears fan. He has thrown for 2 or more touchdowns in 5 of his last 6 games. As a Mitch backer, Sunday made me feel something in parts unknown.

The Bears defense is back to being the Bears defense. The previous two games, the Bears D has regained their composure. On Sunday, they were back to the top defense we have grown to love in the Windy City. The Bears had 6 sacks on Sunday, two by the monster that is Khalil Mack. The Bears also added two interceptions and a fumble recovery. Roquan Smith and Bryce Callahan added sacks. Something needs to be said about both of these players, they have been great this season. The rookie out of Georgia truly needs some more praise for the work he has done. Bryce Callahan has stepped in and truly shown his worth on this dominant defense. Lastly, we finally got what we all wanted folks. Leonard Floyd recorded a sack. Thank you sweet baby Jesus.

Allen Robinson showed up in a huge way returning from injury. The coveted free agent receiver has been kind of a disappointment so far this year. He had yet to eclipse 100 yards before Sunday and had missed multiple games due to injury. 133 yards and 2 touchdowns will make you forget about a lot folks. It will be fun to watch Mitch and Allen’s relationship hopefully flourish the rest of the season.

Cody Parkey. Wow. Hitting the uprights 4 times is virtually impossible. I’m not even mad, I’m impressed. Coach Bombay and Stansson wouldn’t stand a chance…

This was a game the Bears needed to win and they did just that. They now have a YUUUUGE matchup on Sunday Night against the Minnesota Vikings. Mitch will face his biggest test yet, can he step up to the plate and deliver once again? Stay tuned folks!

P.S. Can’t forget this…Capture Week 10

Bear down.
